This book is a guide for patients and families with Diabetes Mellitus, especially regarding the concept of disease, the concept of diabetes self-management education (DSME), and the concept of behavior.

Self-management is one of the most important things in the management of patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM), but in fact self-management of patients is still low. One of the nursing interventions to improve diabetes patient self-management behavior is to provide education through Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME). Some of the obstacles in implementing DSME are patient reluctance to change unhealthy behavior, lack of time for nurses to provide diabetes education due to other tasks, patient disinterest in diabetes education, and lack of evaluation after diabetes education programs.

It is hoped that this book for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients can be a means for sharing experiences, information and mutual assistance in improving patients’ self-management abilities. Good self-management is expected to increase knowledge and improve healthy behavior.
